Join us for our 3rd Annual Freedom Ball on October 21, 2023 at the South Sioux City Marriott Riverfront.
We will come together to recognize and honor local women in the armed forces and women veterans. In June 1948 President Truman signed the Women’s Armed Service Integration Act allowing women to receive regular permanent status in the armed forces. Today, 27 % of militaries are women.
You will enjoy a night of outstanding food, wine, and dancing to Siouxland’s favorite gala band Stan & the Chain Gang from Omaha. A live auction with Auctioneers Randy Stabe and Clint Vos with Stabe Auction and Realty will take place during the event. Your emcees for the evening will be KTIV’s Al Joens and Siouxland Freedom Park Board Member Melissa Lanzourakis.
Siouxland Freedom Park was born out of a groundswell of patriotism and emotion after “The Wall that Heals” was on display in South Sioux City in 2007. From there, a permanent Vietnam War Memorial Wall was erected, followed by the Brigadier General Bud and Doris Day Interpretive Center, Nebraska’s first Freedom Rock, the John Douangdara Dog Park, and other amenities.
Fundraising efforts are continuing for future project at Siouxland Freedom Park. Because of Freedom Ball 2021 and other fundraising efforts, the Brigadier General Bud & Doris Day Interpretive Center is set to open on Veterans Day this year! Freedom Ball 2022 made it possible for a Korean War Memorial, which is also set to open later in 2023!
