Description
Lunch and Learn: Sandy Duncan of the Aging and Disability Resource Center Please bring your lunch and join us for the June Lunch and Learn, on Wednesday, June 14th at 12:00 p.m. Sandy Duncan will speak about the resources provided by the Aging & Disability Resource Center. The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) is for Nebraskans aged 60 years or older, people with disabilities of all ages, family members, caregivers, and advocates. Local ADRCs provide information, referral, and assistance for accessing community services and long-term care options. The ADRC started as a pilot project in July 2016 and was made permanent in April 2018. Each Area Agency on Aging (AAA) has the option to provide ADRC services. The program requires partnerships with organizations that serve the disability community. This agency is the gatekeeper between the state and the community to provide services for the aging and disabled. They offer the following: -SHIP: Senior Health Insurance Program, open enrollment begins Oct 15th for Medicare plans -In-Home Care, home, and community-based programs -Care Management, the first step in helping persons in their home (ie housecleaning, cooking, etc) -Assisting in finding coverage for medical alert devices (geo-location services with GPS, and fall detection) -Assist in the following services: benefit & resource guide, decision-making guide, valuable documents, assisted living, transportation, meals on wheels, mental health, Medicaid (aka access health), family caregiver support, Alzheimer’s, hospice, wheelchair ramp, Mid-Town Health Center, Goodwill, Salvation Army, Nebraska Commission for the Blind, Easter Seals, set up providers or in-home agencies.
