TITLE: Electrical and Instrumentation Technician 

LOCATION:  South Sioux City, NE  

REPORTS TO:   Maintenance / Reliability Manager 

The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient performance of the automated plant processes, systems and lines, while supporting teamwork amongst all departments, at Ingredion’s SSC Pea Protein Facility. They must be multi-crafted with a heavy emphasis on software and control systems. Their work includes on-line troubleshooting and repair, planned work, continuous improvement, capital projects, maintenance projects and training of other technicians and plant operators. Their activities are driven by area performance and planned work order requests. 

 

As an E&I Tech, your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that company, customer, and regulatory procedures for safety, quality, production and costs are carried out effectively and efficiently across their respective shift. 

  • Participate in and promote safety programs at all levels every day.   

  • Providing instrumentation services including troubleshooting, configuration, installation, documentation, checkout, and commissioning of instrumentation and valves. 

  • Support the compliance with all plant regulatory, ISO, Quality, Food Safety systems, GMP policies, guidelines, standards and requirements. 

  • Managing workload to maintain effectiveness and productivity. 

  • Accurately documenting instrumentation service work and actively sharing instrumentation information. Documentation will include work orders, calibration reports, variance reports, and MOC documents. 

  • Train and support non-technical users on the use of plant floor automation systems 

  • Maintain instrument as-built documentation. 

  • Work with 4-20mA analog signals and discrete signals. Experience with HART communication, Rockwell Software, Allen Bradley Drives, is a plus 

  • Remove pressure, flow, and temperature devices and perform calibrations to ensure accuracy 

  • Test instrument interlocks with PLC to ensure proper operation, install instruments and sanitary tubing 

  • Install, audit (voltage/amp check, megg), and commission equipment to ensure proper operation and functionality 

  • Perform wire terminations on instruments and PLC panels and other electrical duties required (i.e. bend conduit, and pull wire) 

  • Start up support for new instruments in new processes 

  • Support the introduction to the plant of new control technologies such as device networks, modular I/O, PLC programming software, etc. 

  • Provide input into site engineering standards for programming and systems design. 

  • Performing other duties as assigned or required by manager. 

  • Supporting the scheduling and planning of maintenance activities
